Roof Over Existing
Richland Place is Nashville's premier retirement community for active seniors. For the comfort of the residents and to reduce costs, facility management chose to roof over the existing shingles rather than perform a complete tear off. RD Herbert additionally relined the built-in gutters with EPDM to extend their lifespan.
The existing shingle roof remained intact and was covered with a 30-year laminate shingle. Typically, a roof-over involves reusing the existing sheet metal. Examples of metal reused on this project include the standing seam copper dormers and drip edge.
