Roof System:
GAF Topcoat Elastomeric Membrane roof
Roof Area profile:
5,000 square feet Re-Coat
Building Note:
One of the first homes to be built in the area, the notable Washington Hall, is a domed house that is modeled in part on Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello and in part on the famed Chiswick House in London. The house was built by Judge John Daniels in 1913 and is part of the Whitland neighborhood which is designated a conservation zone district.
Detail:
This standing seam roof had been coated approximately 10 years ago by RD Herbert & Sons. This application included pressure washing the existing roof, repairing damaged panels and EPDM and installing new roof vents. The new roof coating encapsulates a reinforcement fabric between the two layers of sealant membrane, followed by two additional coats of elastomeric membrane. This creates an impervious finished surface protecting the residence.
